NAZARETH OUTDOOR CONCERT SEASON IN FULL SWING

Three well known Lehigh Valley bands are being featured in the 1996 "Concerts on the Green," the popular series of outdoor concerts in Nazareth starting a third season.

The series is presented by the Moravian Historical Society and Moravian Hall Square Retirement Community.

Opening the season was the Nazareth Community Band on May 21 under the direction of Ralph Brodt III. The band brought its popular blend of classical works, show tunes and marches to the opening night festivities.

The next concert in the series will be held on June l8 and feature pre-concert entertainment by "Brothers In Harmony," a local barbershop chorus. The main event will be Ralph's Big Band, aNazareth-based ensemble directed by Ralph Brodt, Jr. The concert will take place in the Pleasure Gardens of the Moravian Hall Square Retirement Community.

The event will include a Summer Solstice "Selebration" dinner being offered in the Pleasure Gardens before the entertainment.

The final concert on July 16 will feature the High Society Ragtime Band, a popular local group. A performance by 9-year-old jazz pianist Alex Kovacs of Allentown will precede the concert. They will perform on the lawn of the Whitefield House.

All concerts are free to the public. Pre-concert entertainment begins at 6:15 p.m., with the main concert beginning at 7 p.m.

Members of the audience should bring a blanket or chairs on which to sit. They also are encouraged to bring a picnic supper or snacks to enjoy as they listen to the music.
