ROGER MARTIN PICKED TO GIVE HISTORICAL TALK

Morning Call - Allentown, Pa. Author: The Morning Call

Dr. Roger H. Martin, president of Moravian College, will speak at the 137th annual Business Meeting and Vesper of the Moravian Historical Society on Thursday.

Martin will speak about "John Ockershausen's Ockbrook Diary: The First Three Years of a Derbyshire Moravian Community 1750-1753." It will be based on research during his recent sabbatical to England.

The talk follows a traditional luncheon, or vesper, held at noon in Nazareth Moravian Church on Center Square, Nazareth. The menu has remained the same for more than a century, and consists of bread, meat and cheese, apple butter, sugar cake and coffee.

The annual business meeting will precede the vesper at 10 a.m. in the museum of Whitefield House. The museum will also be open following the vesper offering a chance to see "Into All the World" the featured exhibit about Moravian missions.

Reservations are suggested. Tickets for the luncheon and speaker are $9 per person and are available at the door. Contact the Moravian Historical Society at (610) 759-5070.
