MORAVIAN PROGRAM RE-ROOFS NAZARETH'S GRAY COTTAGE

Morning Call - Allentown, Pa. Author: The Morning Call

The Moravian Historical Society has a very special rooftop in mind for area residents who would like to play Santa by "Adopting a Shingle" for the Gray Cottage.

The society recently commissioned a new roof for the Cottage on the Ephrata Tract in Nazareth. The 252-year-old cottage is the oldest surviving Moravian building in North America.

The project was thoroughly researched and 3,500 authentically designed shingles were crafted by Redline and Redline Woodworking of Walnutport.

The roof work has been completed and a dedication and open house will take place in spring.

Meanwhile, members and friends who would like to put the Cottage on their Christmas list are invited to give $10 a shingle as a gift or memorial.

Names of donors responding by Jan. 31 will be inscribed on a shingle.
