LOVEFEAST SCHEDULED IN NAZARETH

Morning Call - Allentown, Pa. Author: The Morning Call

The Moravian Historical Society will host an anniversary lovefeast at 2 p.m. Sunday on the lawn of the Whitefield House, 214 E. Center St., Nazareth, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Whitefield House and the Gray Cottage.

Susan M. Dreydoppel, executive director of the Moravian Historical Society, explains that a lovefeast is "the traditional Moravian way of celebrating a birthday or a special occasion."

Says Dreydoppel, "It's a worship service during which everyone shares a simple meal, much as we eat together in our families. It is not sacramental. We wanted the entire community to be able to celebrate with us."

The lovefeast will be held in the same location where Nazareth began 250 years ago.

The Whitefield House and Gray Cottage are the two oldest buildings in Nazareth, built by the Moravian founders of Nazareth in 1740.

The buildings are still in use, as a museum and residence.

Presiding at the service will be the Rev. Arthur Nehring, Bethlehem, who is president of the Moravian Historical Society.

The lovefeast will be served by board members and by volunteers of the society and Whitefield House.

Music will be provided by the Nazareth Brass Ensemble, consisting of Mark Groner and Jeff Pagano, trumpets; Amanda Houck, French horn; Alle Parker, trombone; Christian Rice, euphonium, and Evan Groner, tuba.
