CONCERT SERIES WILL STRIKE UP IN NAZARETH

Morning Call - Allentown, Pa.

Nazareth musicians will be featured in the opening Concert on the Green, at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on the lawn at Whitefield House, Nazareth.

The Nazareth String Quartet, composed of Nazareth High School students, will open the evening of music with a 6:15 p.m. performance.

The free concert also will feature the Nazareth Community Band at 7 p.m., under the direction of Ralph Brodt III. The band was formed in 1993 and a majority of the 45 members hail from the borough.

The Whitefield House is at 214 Center St. (Route 191). Grounds open at 6 p.m. No chairs or concessions will be available so concert-goers can feel free to bring chairs, blankets and food. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held May 25.

The concert series was launched last year by the Moravian Historical Society and the Moravian Hall Square rRetirement Community.

Future concerts will feature the Rob Stoneback Big Band and a Summer Solstice "Selebration" dinner June 20, and the Main Street Brass July 18. Pre-concert performances will feature Fresh Vegetables June 20 and soprano Evelyn Stewart July 18.

The series is supported by grants from the borough, Nazareth National Bank, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, with assistance from Martin Guitar Company.
