The Moravian Historical Society has been awarded a $5,000 competitive grant from the Institute of Museum Services in Washington, D.C., for its museum in the Whitefield House, Nazareth.

The museum is among the smallest of the 432 museums to receive the grant this year.

Awards, equal to 10 percent of a museum's operating budget, are made through a nationwide competition that evaluates all aspects of a museum's operation. Applications were received from 1,390 museums of all types from around the country.

"We are very pleased to receive this award, because it is a national recognition of our efforts to improve our services to the public," said the Rev. Arthur Nehring, historical society president.
